Educational therapy is individualized instruction for students with learning differences and/or disabilities including, but not limited to, dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, executive function deficit, language, auditory and visual processing deficit. As an educational therapist, I have had extensive training and experience in administering academic assessments, developing intervention plans, setting goals, and teaching strategies to address challenges with reading, writing, spelling, math, organization, and study skills.
Tutors are usually adept in teaching students in one or two specific subjects. In contrast, an educational therapist's focus is much broader. In addition to the extensive training and experiences mentioned above, I collaborate with a child's teachers, therapists (including speech and language, occupational therapy, etc.) and others who are involved with the child's learning.
When you have a child who struggles in school because of a learning difference, anxiety or ADHD, you need a partner who can walk along side you to make the path a little brighter. My primary goal is to help your child become an independent learner by understanding how he or she learns best and instilling confidence to find the answers they seek through discovery and advocating for themselves.
